Data supply procedures
NOTE! In the following procedures references are made to the official text of the Mining Act. You will find direct links to the relevant articles of the Act. Unfortunately, the official text of the Mining Act is not available in English. However, an unofficial translation in pdf format is available via our legislation page.
Supply of data by licencee/operator (in general)
A copy or representative part of the data collected for the reconnaissance, exploration, production or storage of natural resources or geothermal energy must be supplied to the Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (Article 123 of the Mining Act). A description of the data concerned and the timeframe involved is given in chapter 7 of the Mining Decree. Chapter 11 of the Mining Regulations provides further specification.
The data must be supplied to TNO. For the address, see the relevant data type below.
Mining Act: chapter 7, articles 123-125
Mining Decree: chapter 7, articles 108-119
Mining Regulation: chapter 11, articles 11.1.1-11.4.1
Contact: TNO (DINO Department)
Supply of geophysical data by operator
Results obtained from geophysical reconnaissance surveys related to mining activities will be send to TNO-DINO (MBB 108). Data supplied which are (partly) located outside Dutch territory will be considered as part of the survey and as such relinquished according to the regulations in force. TNO will QC and subsequently store the data.
The data that will have to be supplied concerns all geophysical research (MBB 108) seismic, gravimetric, magnetic, electromagnetic or any other type of geophysical methods. All data must be supplied in a digital form. This also holds for vintage data not yet supplied to TNO.
The data will consist of the final processing results of signal, navigation and velocity data accompanied by the relevant reports on acquisition and processing of the field data.
TNO has formulated a standard for the delivery of seismic data.
The data preferably will be supplied to TNO as soon as possible after completing the final processing of the data. Data must be sent to the address below.
Mining Act: article 123
Mining Decree: article 9, article 10, article 108, articles 114-116 and article 177

Supply of borehole data by licencee/operator
The licensee/operator will supply borehole measurement data to the Minister of Economic Affairs in addition to the results of tests performed during the creation, use, maintenance, repair and decommissioning of the borehole.

Mining Decree: article 109 and article 114
Mining Regulation: articles 11.1.2, 11.1.3, and 11.1.4, articles 11.2.1 and article 11.4.1

Delivery of rock samples by licencee/operator
The operator supplies the Minister with a representative part of the cores and rock samples obtained while constructing a borehole. These samples will be supplied within twelve weeks from the date they were obtained (for delivery address see below).
Rock samples will be supplied according to the following guidelines:
- Drill cuttings: Preferably unwashed samples dried at a maximum temperature of 60o Celsius. At least 250 grams per sample in intervals equal to the sample intervals as used by the company. Wet samples in properly labeled, linen-type sacks with small perforations that allow natural drying are also acceptable. Rock samples must be forwarded within twelve weeks after they became available to the licensee.
- Cores (excluding sidewall cores or portions thereof): Whole cores, segments or slabs along the full length to be supplied within one year.
- Sidewall cores: Residues, if available or duplicate palynological slides are sent immediately after preparation to TNO. When no such preparation has been done within one year, TNO may apply for a representative part of the original material. In the latter case the company is free to decide if it prefers to send a part of the original material or prefers to make a slide at the time TNO applies for the material.

Questions, Wishes and Complaints. What happens to them?
NLOG enables you to express your questions, wishes and complaints via
nlog-portal@tno.nl.
Whether this concerns the response times, the information, the data or the service level, NLOG is keen to take your comment on board and deal with it according to a set procedure. This means that you will receive an email from us within two days.
NLOG tries to settle complaints within four weeks. Wishes (for new functionalities) will be judged on importance and do-ability (based on scope and public tasks of NLOG and TNO-DINO as database manager). The period of time needed to realize the new functionality will be estimated on a one by one basis. You will be informed on this. In case a new functionality will imply a serious amount of work, then the User council will have to prioritize the work. This may imply extra time because the User council meets on a bi-annual basis.
