Geological Atlas of the subsurface of the Netherlands - offshore

The download links below give access to grids from the Netherlands offshore mapping project (see location map of seismic surveys used). Future improvements (Q1-2011) will include the onshore.

All grids have a resolution of 250 x 250 m. Time grids represent values in two-way-time (TWT) for 9 major seismic horizons. The grids result from interpolation of seismic picks using a “convergent gridding” algorithm, and the surfaces are clipped at the subcrop boundaries. 2D surveys have been used only to fill in areas where no 3D surveys are available. Occasionally surveys required relative vertical shifting in order to provide a good match with neighboring surveys.

The time grids have been depth converted with the velocity model of VELMOD-2 (available in November 2011), which is an update of VELMOD-1. The map with VELMOD-2 wells shows the location of all wells used to build the VELMOD-2 velocity grids (see location map VELMOD-2 wells used). Depth converted grids have been corrected using well-markers of a selection of wells (see location map of wells used).

No specific fault modeling has been applied to the grids of the complete offshore. Faults have been modeled for sub-regions NCP-2A to -2G (see location map of sub-regions) and are available for download. The sub-regions NCP-2C, -2D, -2F & -2G will be uploaded in Q1- 2011.
