General Information

Since the beginning of 2019 TNO and EBN execute together the 3-year program Seismische Campagne Aardwarmte Nederland, in short SCAN. On basis of results of SCAN it can be better estimated where in the Dutch subsurface there is potential for geothermal heat production. The main projects of the SCAN program concern seismic data acquisition in the field and the re-processing of existing data of the Dutch subsurface. By combining and further study of the results obtained from these projects, the knowledge on our subsurface is further increased. In the program there is an emphasis on areas with a low data density. Via this web page all research data and final results of the different studies within SCAN are being made public. This concerns mainly the final results (reports) of these studies and the existing (Mining Law) data as used, or has become available or been re-processed, or as has been newly acquired in the SCAN program.

Final results 

SCAN Studies Seismic Acquisition per SCAN-area

To determine where seismic data acquisition for SCAN to take place studies have performed where on basis of available subsurface data (existing seismic data, data on wellbores, geology data from scientific literature) it has been estimated where further seismic data to be acquired by SCAN has most added value for the development of geothermal energy production. From December 2019 on via the above a new version of the final report is available, with a number of textual edits and corrections. A number of appendices to the main report have been added as well, comprising of 13 reports describing the data and analyses per well, 16 detailed core logs and 1 regional correlation panel.
